Democracy Fights

America and its allies were faced with many battles ahead. Battle of the River Plate, this was the first naval battle of the war. Ships from the royal navy's south American division took on Germany's fierce Graf Spee. The battle of Midway, Americas navy destroyed Japans navy for good. The Battle of Britain, after the surrender of France, Britain was left to fight by her self. The Battle of the Bulge, this was Hitlers last attempt at splitting up the allies and cutting of it's supply. His plan failed due to failure of his own supplies like fuel and ammo. We were getting closer to the end of Hitler. These are some of  the many battles fought between the Allies and Axis Powers.

While we were getting closer to victory in Europe, Japan was still putting up a fight. The dreadful numbers of "twenty-seven percent of Western prisoners of war in Japanese camps died in captivity, against 3 percent of those held by the Germans" (War Camps). Despite these tragic events, America never put her head down. We were always attacking and planning for our next move. Our military Generals and advisers were very smart on battle field tactics, at one point we used our Native American people to use there language as a secret code to translate messages on the front lines. The Native Americans who were used for these mission's were told that "the side that can send secure messages more quickly and efficiently holds an enormous advantage over its opponent, and any advantage that can be gained through the communication of secret messages can make the difference between winning and losing a battle or even a war" (Code Talking). This strategy proved victorious over the Japanese, it resulted in the take over of Iwo Jima.

The main battle that doomed Hitler was D-Day, June 6, 1944. Allied forces landed 2 million troops on the beach of Normandy. By the end of August, Allies liberated Paris, Brussels and Antwerp. While the Allies were sweeping territory, they were also bombing major German industries, crippling Hitlers power. The Allies became an unstoppable force. Hitler recognized this and took the cowards way out. He and his wife committed suicide on April 30, 1945. One week after the suicide, Germany surrendered.

While Germany surrendered, Japan was still holding onto the fight. Japan at this point had already been beaten, but there pride wouldn't let them surrender. Many suicide missions were played out, due to the fact that they knew they were going to be defeated. America got tired of our soldiers being murderd by these suicide missions.

President truman gave the order to drop 2 Atom bombs over Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6, and 9.

On August 8, the soviet union also declared war on Japan. Finally, the leaders of Japan recognize there loss and on August 15, 1945 they surrender.

Crucial Events

The next day after the Pearl Harbor bombing is when America officially entered the war against the Axis powers. Roosevelt had his entire country supporting him. After the Pearl Harbor bombing, Americas people didn’t need propaganda to motivate there dedication and passion for helping out in the war effort. Men were shipped off to war and women were called to run the build up of bombs and airplanes. At one point “The office of Civilian Defense called upon each American family to become a fighting unit on the home front. Everyone was asked to collect scrap metal from which armaments could be made. In one year alone, Mobile’s citizens amassed 22 million pounds of it” (Ward and Burns 146). Germany at the time was the biggest threat to America because of its massive military and advancement in weaponry. While America was planning a strategic plan on the axis powers, the notorious Adolph Hitler was doing acts of inhuman cruelty in his country. These acts were called the Holocaust. This was the cruelest part of World War II. Hitler placed Jewish people in concentration camps and had them murdered by gas chambers. While he was conducting cowardly acts on his home front he was also advancing rapidly on territory. On the other side of the world, another tragic event took place. The Japanese got a hold of American soldiers who were lead by General MacArthur. The soldiers were treated inhumane. They made them march 60 miles without food and water. The number of men affected by this event is tragic,” 75,000 men, 12,000 of them Americans, began the march, but only 54,000 reached its end” (Sulzberger 169). America needed to put an end to all the madness.

Evil Dictatorships

While America trys to stay neutral, evil dictators carry out there actions as imagined. "Aggression on the march. Japan, Italy, and Germany followed a policy of aggressive territorial expansion during the 1930's. They invaded weak lands that could be taken over easily. The dictatorships knew what they wanted, and they grabbed it. The democratic countries responded with timidity and indecision to the aggression of the dictatorships"(World War 2). These dictators recieved easy victories over there new taken land. At this point and time the only force trying to stop the madness was the League of Nations. They had a small army and did not have enough power for making international laws. There efforts were obviously useless. The evil dictators of these countries got together and formed an alliance which was known as the Axis. When Germany and the Soviet Union invaded poland on Sept.1939, France and the United Kingdom declared war on vicious Germany, the start of World War 2"(Causes of world war 2). Asias war history started when japan decided to attack "Manchuria in 1931, which was a part of China. Manchuria was a rich source of minerals that could be helpful to regain Japan's power in Asia. The League of Nations restricted Japan to colonize Manchuria. In contrast, Japan not only refused to accept their decision as a member of League of Nations but quit from its membership and continued the battle. Later on, Japan called a war against United States at Pearl Harbor in 1941. This was known as the largest Asian war ever fought in the twentieth century. It resulted in United States declaring war against Japan and other nations like Germany and Italy, who had signed the Tripartite Treaty. United States participated in the World War 2"(Causes of world war 2).

Nuetral America

I will be describing the details of America’s involvement in a two way war which is known as World War 2. This event that took part in our nations past time is very important to how we live today. When America is called out, we know how to adapt and over come. This is why we are the most dominating country in the world. This war really made our country prove that point to the world.

After the events of World War 1, we as a country stood neutral when it came to the involvement of national aid. Our financial status after World War 1 was greatly affected. We were put into a hardship tour of life, being placed into the great depression. America’s main focus was to improve the money currency so that its people can make an honest living and provide for their families. While America had a cold shoulder to everybody else in the world, Germany and Japan had plans of there own. Germany which was led by Adolph Hitler was aiming on conquering all of Europe and the Japanese were planning on taking over china. America was led by President Franklin D Roosevelt. Roosevelt was aware of all the controversies over seas but was not ready to enter another World War. America’s people wanted nothing but neutrality and would not permit themselves to be dragged into fighting and blood shed.
